How to ask for deletion
- In the app: open Settings, go to the bottom of the page and tap "Close your account", then "Close my account". Your account is closed straight away. If you do not see "Close your account", update the app, or use one of the ways below.
- Online, without the app: sign in below with the 6-digit code we email to the address registered to your Ride-In-Sight account, then choose "Close my account". It takes effect straight away.
- By email, if you can no longer open the app: write to support@rideinsight.app from the email address registered to your account, with the subject "Delete my Ride-In-Sight account". We act only on a request sent from that address; if you write from a different one, we reply to the registered address and ask you to confirm from there. We handle email requests within one month and email you to confirm.
Checking…
If the button does not open your email app, write to support@rideinsight.app with the subject "Delete my Ride-In-Sight account".
Every way does the same thing
Closing your account in the app, on this page or by email has the same result, described below.
What happens when your account is closed
Your account is closed straight away: the devices registered to it are no longer trusted, and your referral code stops working.
You have 30 days to change your mind: sign in to the app, or on this page, and choose "Restore my account", and your account and points come back.
After 30 days, your account and profile are permanently deleted. Some records are kept for set periods, as our Privacy Policy explains: sign-in security records, which include your email address, payment records linked to your former account ID, and copies in backups and email logs for a short time.
The deletion is done by an automatic job that runs once a day, so it happens on the first run after the 30 days end.
What we keep, and for how long
We keep only the records the law or fraud prevention requires:
Payment and other financial records: 6 years, as HMRC requires.
Fraud and risk records: 24 months after your account is closed.
Security and audit records: 24 months after the event they record, or 24 months after your account is closed if that is later.
Records of referrals, points and activity are kept so other members' rewards are not taken away. They are pseudonymised, not anonymous: your name and contact details are deleted, but the records keep the referral code used, who referred whom and, in some records, your former account ID.
Deleted data can remain in our backups for about 7 to 8 days, until those backups are replaced.
What deleting your account does not remove
On Android, crash reports and any usage statistics collected through Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics) are not linked to your account and are not removed by deleting it. Firebase deletes them on its own retention schedule.
A membership card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet may stay saved there after your account closes, but it is no longer valid.
Records Apple or Google hold about your App Store or Google Play purchases, emails we have already sent you, and records held by the companies that send email and look up map places for us, are deleted on those companies' own retention schedules.
Data stored on your phone, such as your offer history, is not deleted with your account. Closing your account in the app deletes the offer screenshots kept in the app on that phone. Clear the rest in the app, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling does not remove pictures saved to your photo library.
Subscriptions
Closing your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it separately in the App Store or Google Play.
